Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto

Former Imperial Villa Nijo-jo Castle has witnessed the changes of Japan, including the prosperity and decline of the Tokugawa Family. The Palace is designated as a National Treasure since it is the only surviving example of a fortified palace complex. Inside Nijo Castle, you can enjoy unique survivals from one of the golden ages of Japanese architecture and design, the early Edo period, known for its ornate architecture and magnificent interiors.

First built in the year 794, According to the records, the site originally extended approximately 400 meters from north to south and about 200 meters from east to west. When the Nijō Castle was built, the land was absorbed by the castle grounds, reducing its size. It is now known as the oldest garden in Kyoto.

The Takenobu Inari Shrine is an old shrine that has been around since the Heian period. It is well known for assisting expecting couples with selecting baby names.
